Painting on the Green at the Old Quebec Street Shoppes
Painting on the Green is entering its 56th year! This annual art show will be held at Old Quebec Street Shoppes in downtown Guelph from Friday, May 27th to Sunday, May 29th.
Since 1960, this outdoor art show has allowed novice and experienced visual artists to showcase their talents together. Painting on the Green provides an excellent opportunity to exhibit works, gain show experience, both in displaying and being judged, and learn from participating seasoned artists. For the art appreciator, it is a great venue to view and/or purchase works from local talent of all levels.
Organized by the Guelph Creative Arts Association (GCAA), the show has three juried categories, including Crafts and Photography as well as Art.
The awards that will be presented are:
- Painting: The Ron Sainsbury Award + $100.00 will be awarded for 1st prize and there will be a 2nd prize and 2 honourable mentions.
- Photography: Niels Hansen Photography Award + $100.00 will be awarded for 1st prize and there will be 1 honourable mention.
- Craft Artisans: Awards include a 1st prize + $100.00 and1 honourable mention. The juror for all awards to be announced.
- Juror’s Awards: Announcement and presentation of awards will be made on Saturday May 30th at 3:00 p.m. The jurors’ decisions are final.
People’s Choice Award: The people’s choice award has always been popular with attendees. The winner will be decided by ballot and the winner will be announced Sunday May 31st at 3:00pm.
The GCAA aims to provide opportunities for visual artists to exhibit, display and sell their work, to promote individual artistic endeavours and development, to provide learning opportunities for artists to develop their skills, and to build a supportive community of area artists and those who appreciate art.
