Making A Difference In Our Community
At The Ostic Group, we know that our community is the foundation of our business. We understand that we are here and operating today because of the ongoing support that we receive from all of our clients in the community. Giving Back
Our team is always looking for ways to make a positive difference and give back to the community that has supported us for so many years. This year, in cooperation with Gore Mutual Insurance Company, we are proud to support the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation with a two year commitment to assist in the funding of the construction of the new hospital.
We are pleased to donate $55,000 in support of the new hospital. This donation will go towards the building fund campaign, the redevelopment campaign, and the CT scan campaign, which will provide state-of-the-art equipment for the new facility.
In conjunction with our donation, The Ostic Group has also been given the honour of the naming rights to the digital radiology suite (fluoroscopy room) in the new hospital.
Groves Memorial Community Hospital
The Groves Memorial Community Hospital was originally founded in 1902 by Dr. Abraham Groves, a well-known surgeon in Fergus. Dr Groves is notable in Canadian medical history as he was the first surgeon in Canada to perform an appendectomy. He was also a pioneer in the use of antiseptics and sterilization, stomach surgery, and x-ray treatment for cancer.
Groves Memorial Community Hospital has been at the heart of our community for over a century and is a vital resource, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, inpatient and outpatient services — including 24/7 emergency and obstetrical care.
Over the years, Groves has expanded with the addition of new wings and new technology, all with the goal of supporting the needs of our growing community.
Now, Groves Memorial Community Hospital is a busy facility with:
- 33,655 diagnostic tests per year
- 21,761 emergency visits per year
- 2,492 surgeries per year
- 475 births per year
As our region continues to grow, so do the needs of the hospital — which has made the redevelopment campaign so important.
